  Know more about the place you will be going to see your date and reserve a hotel yourself. Don't let your date reserve anything for you. As an extra precaution, don't give any details to your date till you arrive there.

  Do as much advance preparation as possible to make your trip comfortable and successful. Like, research about your destination and the place where you will be staying. Do advance booking.

  Make sure once the reservation is done, your close family members and friends know where you are going and when and whom you are going to see. Show the picture of your date to those who are really close to you. Give them all the contact numbers where you can be reached.

  Always start with to-do list and tick off one by one whatever is done. All your travel arrangements should be finalized a week or preferably, two earlier before leaving, so that you are not missing anything and are not messed up with the last minute arrangement things.

  Don't overload yourself by carrying heavy, extra luggage. Carry only what you really need. Its better to leave your valuables at home. If you do bring something, make sure you keep it safe at hotel.

  Take a cell phone with you if possible. If you don't have one, rent one. You can rent cell phones these days and it will be a good idea to do so. Don't forget to give the cell phone and hotel phone numbers to the people who know about your trip.

  Always feed the emergency numbers in your cell phone so that you are ready to press the call button at a moment's notice.

  If you make up new friends while travelling, be wary about what you tell other people. Never mention about your accomodation, the valuables, if you are carrying any, about your travel arrangements, etc.

  Safety is very important. No matter where you are, be aware of everything going on around you, walk with confidence, with head up and eyes always panning the area around you. Going around with a confidence will definetely keep you safe. Be sure of the areas you should avoid visiting.

  Once you reach your destination and when checking in make sure, no stranger should come to know your room number. If somehow they come to know of your room number, get it changed right away.

  Also while checking in and going to your room, try to take in the fire exits and fire alert points or extinguishers can be found just in case of emergency.

  Always carry hotel's card with you when going out of hotel which could be useful to get back in case you are lost or in case of emergency.

  Don't accept your date's offer to drop you off at your lodging as you still are considering him/her as your partner.
